École Jeannine Manuel launches a new online English programme

An online English language and literature course

Our school has been leading the way in bilingual education for almost 70 years. Recent world events have also helped us refine our approach to innovative and impactful online learning. Starting in the fall of 2021, we will offer a live online English language and literature course for students with an excellent or native level of English who are not enrolled in our school but would thrive on an enriched bilingual curriculum. Students enroll by grade level in groups of up to six: they benefit from the same curriculum, methods, and academic ambitions as École Jeannine Manuel students. Our approach

Creative

Fostering students’ natural curiosity and creativity is essential. Younger students build on their vocabulary and grammar skills through enjoyable creative writing and perspective-taking exercises that stimulate their imagination, and older students delve deep into some of the most fascinating texts of English-language literature.

Collaborative

Group work is one of the crucial pillars of our pedagogical approach. Students are encouraged to actively participate in their own learning through regular collaborative work. Small groups of up to six students facilitate collaborative projects, peer-to-peer learning, and oral expression, while in-presence workshops held throughout the year encourage group cohesion. Students will also have the opportunity to take part in cultural outings to institutions in London such as the Globe Theater.

Effective

Shorter workshop sessions interspersed throughout the week facilitate and encourage effective learning. Students enjoy learning in a positive environment while being challenged by an academically-rigorous curriculum. Teachers provide regular feedback and students must hand in one (individual or group) assignment a week. Younger students receive a certificate of achievement at the end of each school year, while at the end of seconde, students can sit internationally-recognised examinations such as the IGCSEs (First Language English and English Literature) at one of our school’s campuses.
